What’s included?
x10 sheets (picture and word cards) for simple words to sound out focusing on the sounds 'a, e, i, o and u'. This download includes x5 sets of x20 cards (x10 pictures and x10 words per set). Portrait orientation, pdf format.
What’s it for?
This phonics activity enables learners to sound out graphemes to read CVC words (all containing the 'a/e/i/o/u sounds) and match them with the corresponding pictures. Each set has been designed to be a simple, predictable activity to promote independence and consolidate learning. It is ideal for individuals or groups to complete independently.
Who’s it for?
This resource is suitable for early years children, Year One pupils, and older learners who require focused phonics support and consolidation.
How to use it?
An adult prints and pre-cuts the cards into rectangles (dotted lines guide where to cut).
The set of cards can be placed on a carpet/table top. Learners read each CVC word by sounding out the individual graphemes featured. They then match each word to its corresponding picture from the set. Phoneme 'dots' are included beneath every grapheme to guide learners on the number of sounds to say as they sound out the words.
