This has been created as a reference guide for the youngest learners to begin to observe and identify and begin to name some of the most common garden birds in the UK.
Position on/near a window to encourage learners to look outside and observe or when outside to cross check with the reference poster to help identify which bird they have spotted.
Who’s it for?
This resource has been designed for early years children, pupils in years one and two as well as older students who would enjoy observing and identifying birds each day.
Resource Details
This Bird Identification Poster is designed to help learners identify common garden visitors. The birds are intuitively organised by size and family: smaller species populate the top rows, with sizes increasing towards the larger birds at the bottom.
To support accurate identification, species with distinct visual differences between males and females (such as Blackbirds and finches) are shown as a pair. These are easily identified using the simple colour-coded gender key located at the top right of the poster.
